While going through my archives today i found a few
photos i took over the year which looked actually nice
and "worthy" to show...i wonder if i was more critical
in february regarding this capture of a Eurasian Jay
(Garrulus glandarius) near the Decksteiner Weiher here
in Cologne that i did not post it earlier.

This was one of the last photosessions i had with my
20D before i got the 40D two weeks later - somehow
there was a problem together with the 100-400 -
after a series of shots the camera "died" so that i
had to take out the battery each time which was quite
annoying.

Hello Thorsten,
Well there are some birds I always expect them to be photographed perched on a branch somehow. This might be the so for this Jay...
However it definitely has some size and you were quite close. Plus there's that somewhat funny posture...
There's also light in your work...
Finally a nice presentation.

Hi Thorsten

Although this bird blends in perfectly with the surrounding habitat the clear and sharp details still affords one a wonderful view of its magnificent features. The late afternoon light provided lovely warm colours and the direct eye-contact show that this bird was well aware of all your actions, yet it remained put for a lovely shot.

Well done MF and TFS.

Loot

Hi Thorsten.
I had only few opportunities to take shots of this wonderful bird. However, I could not get good pictures. You managed to create a fine shot. Colours are awesome, sharpness and details of the bird and impressive surroundings are terrific. Composition is great. Well done and all my compliments.
Alexei.
