[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hello friends,

I´m tired to posting pictures and to write critiques. I go for a while off-line and I hope that the climate becomes better in TN. (pictures without note, bad or wrong critiques, Point harvesters, ......)

Many thanks to my friends all around the world. I think it was a good time with you all. Greetings to Janice, Pam, Manyee, Sabine, Sky, Monika, Evelynn, Greg, Alan, Ricardo (forgive me next I look for your pictures) Peter, Thorsten, Peter from Vienna, Scott, Jaap, Gert, Luc, Ram, Howard, Loot, Stephen, Felipe, Niek, Chris, Livio, Aleksander, Cristian my friend from Annecy and many, many others ....
Greetings
Your Heinz

Red Fox - Vulpes vulpes
- pictured in the wild (Arnsberger forrest) -

Characteristics
The red fox has orangish-red fur on its back, sides and head. It has white fur under its neck and on its chest. It has a long bushy tail tipped in white, pointed black ears and black legs and feet.

Range
The red fox can be found in most of the United States and Canada, except for the far north in Canada and Alaska and much of the western U.S. and Hawaii. The red fox can also be found in Europe and Asia and it has been introduced to Australia.

Habitat
The red fox makes its home in wooded areas, prairies and farmland.

Diet
The red fox eats a wide variety of foods. It is an omnivore and its diet includes fruits, berries and grasses. It also eats birds and small mammals like squirrels, rabbits and mice. A large part of the red fox's diet is made up invertebrates like crickets, caterpillars, grasshoppers, beetles and crayfish. The red fox will continue to hunt even when it is full. It stores extra food under leaves, snow or dirt.

Life Cycle
The red fox mates from January through March. The female will make one or more dens right after mating. The extra dens are used if the original den is disturbed. A little less than two months after mating, the female gives birth to a litter of between one and ten kits. The male brings the female food while she is caring for the kits. The kits start playing outside the den when they are about a month old. The mother begins feeding her kits regurgitated food, but eventually she will bring them live prey to "play" with and eat. Playing with live prey helps the young kits develop the skills they will need for hunting. The kits leave their mother when they are about seven months old.

Behavior
The red fox is mostly nocturnal, although it will sometimes venture out in the day. The red fox, unlike other mammals, hears low-frequency sounds very well. It can hear small animals digging underground and will frequently dig in the dirt or snow to catch prey. The fox stalks its prey, much like a cat. It gets as close as it can and then pounces and chases its prey.

I'm off this week but when I come back, I will hope you have returned. Have a break for a while - I think we all need it some times.

Take care my friend, I will be thinking of you,

Heinz,

I will miss you. I hope I had no part in the "bad climate of TN". I will not critisize this pic, I might be wrong...
I bet you will continue to stalk your photographic preys and do great shots without our advice! Should you care for an excursion into the Fribourg alps to look for some Ibex or Orchids in summer, let me know, You have a standing invitation. My e-address is dietrich.meyer@unifr.ch .

Cheers, Dietrich

Hallo Heinz,
nun machst Du's wirklich wahr???

Very nice shot! Beautiful subject!
Nice colours, bye Tom

Auf wiedersehen

Hello
Good capture and nice point of view.
I also like the colours of the picture.
I'm new one on TN, so maybe I'm not very good critique writer, but anyway - your picture is just amaizing.

Hello Heinz,
Pity your opinion of TN has gone down. This is not an encourage ment for those of us who are relatively new. But one does not improve things by leaving so it is up to those of us who choose to stay to try and make this site both a joy and an education.
That you took this shot in the wild is great and that you present it so well, sharp and with good POV is excellent.
Nothing to stop you having a look now and then!
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

Hello Heinz,
You're posting a really excellent shot of a lovely fox, his fur is beautiful, he's got a glimpse in his eyes and he looks so content and then you express the opposite. I think it is a great pity and, I'm sorry, but I don't think the climate here improves if we all end up like this. If we don't like it I think it is more honourable to leave quietly.
TFS and I hope you stay! Ulla

Hello Henize,

The red fox excellent Photo, perfect details very crisp, excllent capture with excllent colors bg pov dof nicly composed photo.

TFS Kyle

Sorry to Hear this news Heinz, You have been a GOOD member of TN, it is only with the help of such people as you that the site maintains it's quality. We have always had our ups and downs and we come through the rough patchs because the people who break rules or are rude get removed and those who are not realy into wildlife go else were to post my cat , dog etc.
Must admit to not having posted or even added critques lately because all my available time for the site has been spent sorting out the problem posters and images. but that does not mean I have not been keeping an eye your brilliant work. If you feel the need for a rest from critquing or even constant posting , please keep in touch with the site and even upload the odd image to remind others who you are.
Oh Yes the Fox , just wish I could get near enough to get such a wonderful shot TFS and see you soon yours Robert

Hi Heinz

Great shot of this beautiful Fox, I love the pose and the very sweet expression you have captured on the foxes face, very nice detail and wonderful well saturated colours.

Sorry to hear that you feel like a break but sometimes we all need one to recharge, I know what you mean as I read it a lot in the forums and as a newish member worry that I am part of what upsets people. Anyway I hope you will soon be back once you take some more great shots that you want to share with us all.

TFS Hilary :o)

Hi Heinz,
Dont get so upset about TN members, in a site with such huge set of members its bound to happen, with all this it is still a beautiful place :-)
This picture is amazing, the look on his face is really a sly.. ( he looks innocent still there is tinge of naughty and intelligence there ), Amazing colors and the composition, the catch light in the eye is an added bonus.
I know you dont care about points!! but this deserves one, since i have exausted mine will give you a big smiley tomorrow!!
Once again dont get upset and keep posting please :-)
TFS

Lieber Heinz,
Peter

Hello Heinz,
I saw this note only yesterday and I must say that I was a little sad. It is always sad to see people with a great talent in photography leaving for these reasons (that I understand anyway) but which let me tough full... You know how I love your Foxe’s picture and this one is no exception. Look at this little mischievous face again. Details, POV and exposure are superb. We will miss you. Ciao and take care.
Claudine

Hello Heinz

I am saddened to read your note. You are a valued member of Treknature and your 'break for a while' is understandable, but will leave a void in the site. Thank you for your commitment and contribution to the site, your magnificent photos, your support of all members and your friendship. I hope your 'holiday' will be short and again soon you will share with us your photos. Take care my friend, you will be missed.

Hi Heinz

It is sad to read of another long standing member and respected friend who leave the site due to the status quo, as you mentioned. I sure hope that with time you might feel better to become active again and share some of your wonderful photos with us. Funny how even this fox seems to show some sadness and a degree of expectation.

Your composition is great while it shows this fox in its natural habitat and those eyes oozes with life. The colours are brilliant, rich, and well saturated. The details are remarkable and the exposure was just perfect.

Very well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot
