Great to see you switched to a different lens. I didn't even know you had one. :) I also noticed the new camera.
You surely captured a wonderful moment, but you also managed to make a wonderful composition out of it. Your low POV and the perfect DOF just makes this a winner. The fact that you captured the heron with his luch is superb. The details and light on the heron are sehr schoen.

Hi Sabine

You have just answered what our heron does in the field behind our house. It is a wheat field and there are lots of mice this year (indoors and outdoors). But I have to say that it is a really stunning shot and your timing was spot on.

This bird really seems proud of the big pray it has on its beak, ready to lunch.

Beautiful picture of this amazing bird and its surroundings. I like great selected DOF, sharp FG and main subject and very impressive, blurred a bit green BG and very nice cloudy sky. Wonderful shot. I love to watch herons hunt but I have only seen them doing this in the water. Great capture with perfect timing, sharp details and an impressive POV. I love the framing of the shot as well

bonjour sabine
eh bien pour un oiseau souvent montré du doigt pour etre reputé mangeur de poisson,voila une image qui va faire changer d'avis sur lui.
je me demandais pourquoi les herons restaient souvent en plein millieu des champs,je pensais qu'il restaient ainsi loin des predateurs mais en fait ce sont eux les predateurs.
excellentes images et sourtout tres utile.
