[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a really difficult object for photographers, the caterpillar of
- Orgyia antiqua
- family: Lymantriidae

English: Vapourer
German: Schlehen-Bürstenspinner

I shot numerous pictures of that specimen. Most of them did not appear really sharp - although they were!
This one, taken against the clear sky, at least matched my expectations.

Information on the species
The species occurs throughout Europe and palaearctic Asia. It has been also found in North- and in South America.
Flight period in Europe: June to October
Caterpillars feed on numerous diverse plants, such as:
Picea, Salix, Populus, Prunus Quercus, Erica, Aremisia, Cornus, Forsythia .....

Conditions
- bright light
- ISO 200
- handheld

A perfect capture of a difficult to photograph subject Peter, good POV and quite a wide depth zone, so the whole caterpillar is sharply in focus, together with the leaf, against a pleasant, cloudy sky. TFS indeed for this fine scene.

Ciao Peter,

Gruss..Sky
