The body of the male grows up to 19 mm and the body of the female even up to 30 mm.
You can find the grasshoppers from June to October at a height of 500 m to 2800 m.
Podisma pedestris lives in dry and rocky area. It is hard to find in Germany and is endangered all over Central Europe.
Photo: I found this male at a height of about 800 m on a rock in the Danube Valley.

Grösse der Männchen: 17-19 mm ; Grösse der Weibchen: 24-30 mm.
Man findet die Tiere von Juni bis Oktobert in einer Höhe von 500 m bis 2800 m.
Sie leben auf trockenem und felsigem Gelände und sind in Deutschland nur sehr selten in einigen Mittelgebirgen (Oberes Donautal) und den mehr östlichen bayrischen Alpen zu finden.
Die gewöhnliche Gebirgsschrecke ist in Mitteleuropa vom Aussterben bedroht.
Foto: Dieses Männchen fand ich in einer Höhe von ca. 800 m auf einem Fels im oberen Donautal.

Good macro capture.
Personally i found the subject a little to dark but it's a difficult subject.
Sharpness are good.

Hello Helmut,
A very fine macro of this tiny Grasshopper in beautiful colours. Great sharpness too and a fine composition. Possibly a little bit dark but I like it!

Maybe the picture is not perfect, and insect is a little out of focus, but because this group is not so popular among TN photographers - it is nice to see this Orthoptera image :)
I like also note, short but informative :)

Hallo Helmut,
eine interessante, schöne Heuggümperart, in TN erst einmal gezeigt, in optimaler Pose. Schön, wie das Seitenlicht die Hinterbeine durchleuchtet. Den starken Kontrast kann man in Photoshop etwas verringern (Geschmackssache). Ohne Makroblitz kann man nicht das ganze Tier scharf ablichten, wichtig ist dann, dass mindestens die Augen scharf abgebidet sind (fast perfekt hier). Gut gemacht, Helmut.
