We are still at the brids park walsrode and watching the flight show. :-)

Yes these two are American White Pelicans (Pelecanus erythrorhynchos). I was impressed by their size as well as their appetite. They were fixated on the birds trainers to get some fish. Everytime the trainers gave them fish the whole hand disappered in the beak.

The following information can be found here.

...The White Pelican does not dive for fish as the Brown Pelican does. Instead, it dips its head underwater to scoop up fish. Several pelicans may fish cooperatively, moving into a circle to concentrate fish, and then dipping their heads under simultaneously to catch fish...

* Size: 127-165 cm (50-65 in)
* Wing span: 244-290 cm (96-114 in)
* Weight: 4500-9000 g (158.85-317.7 ounces)
* Large, white waterbird.
* Long bill with extensible pouch.
* Legs short.
* Body large and heavy.
* Feet webbed.
* Wings long and broad, with black trailing edge.
* Tail short.

Thomas, this is a very great moment, the wings completely open, and not one but two on one photo, excellent shot I like this.

Very nice shot. You captured it at the right time. Well done.

I think your visit to this show was very productive, this is another nice shot, but with some disturbing elements, so I dared to make a workshop. I wish you find it useful.

Great moment of the takeoff... always is to be able pleasant to capture it.
Like always, the whites and the sun so difficult to combine, are appraised in this image.
I like the workshop of Felipe, eliminating the image of the person behind.
In any case, it is a very good presentation.

Now this looks like a crash-landing in the making. Very good heading too. Your timing to get both birds in was excellent. You also captured this with very good sharpness and DOF. Thanks for posting

Excellent capture Thomas, very nice shot and I like your angle and POV. I think Felipe's WS to crop out the woman in BG works really well.

Good shot Thomas.
Good timing to get both birds, nice compo and good colors.
I think Felipe's WS works well.
Well done.

Very good shot Thomas. I find a lot of humour in that shot. Well done.

Nice one, Thomas. The monet you captured is unique. The whites are a bit bright for my liking but still a nice composition overall.
