Argynnis paphia / Silver-washed Fritillary / Kaisermantel / Tabac d'Espagne / Keizersmantel.

Description: Wingspan 5.6 - 6.5 cm, male is dark orange with black spots and streaks, the female usually a paler orange and lacking the forewing black streaks of scent scales present on the male. Underside of wings mainly olive-green in ground colour with silvery bands on the hind wings.
Distribution: Throughout most of the UK, but more common the further south you travel. Mainly a butterfly of woodland: can be coniferous, but more likely to be mature deciduous woodland, especially oaks.

Flight period: Late June to mid-September, one brood.

Behaviour: Feeds at flowers, especially thistles, bramble and other composite flowers. The male carries out a complicated mating display during which the antennae of the female come into contact with the scent-scales on his forewings; this special scent induces the female to mate; eggs are laid singly on tree tree trunks close to the caterpillar's food plants.

Caterpillar: Black-brown with two orange-yellow lines on back, with long, reddish-brown spines. Feeds on Dog Violet, Hairy Violet and other violet species; usually feeds at night and conceals itself by day, often at some distance from the foodplant; hanging chrysalis usually amongst the ground vegetation.

Hibernation: As a tiny caterpillar, usually in the crevices of tree bark.

Nice and unusual POV for a bfly.
Good compo and DOF too.
Nice details from a different angle.
THx.

POV of the underside of this buterfly is good, though the focus seems a little soft. for several reasons possibly.
The front of the thistle flower os in front of the point of focus and the rear of the left wing is dropping out of the focus. This could be helped with the use of burntool to darken the bright areas and selective sharpening to make the soft areas look harder and therefore more in focus. a bit of a trial and error method but worth practicing I find.

Hi Harm,
you had a perfect POV, this butterfly is looking down so nice with it's beautiful eyes.
Excellent sharpness, thank you so much, bye
