Hello at all,
This photo shows a moth with a colour I really wondered. The wings look silvery. On photos you often can´t really see that. You must build your own opinion whether you can cognize it here well.
I can´t identify the species of this "silvery moth". I hope someone can help me.

The moth has a wingspan about 25 mm.
It sits on dry leaf, so the colour is not so powerful anymore.
This photo shows -how you can see- the upperside. In a few days I will send the underside.

photo-information:
- Shutter-speed: 1/25
- F-Stop: f/8
- ISO 400
- no tripod/ hand-held
- automatic focus

Hi Fabian,
I cannot help with ID but I think this is a very nice moth and that you caught excellent details on it. I also like the detail of this dead leaf. I'm amazed but he shutter speed you used and by this nice result you got by being hand held... Well done and thanks!

Hello Fabian,
nice and detailed picture of this grey-in-grey moth of the family Geometridae (probably close to Oporinia/Epirrita). The distinct grey nuances and fine colour patterns are well presented although light conditions were obviously not optimal. Extreme high sharpness(the scales of the wing margins are nicely seen) in spite of 1/25 sec.
A suitable presentation to introduce this moth.
Best wishes, Peter

Hello Fabian,
You have taken a fine shot with good detail and well composed. But despite the detail of this picture it is not easy to ID it. Your father will perhaps correct me but this must be a geometer moth of Epirrita genus and I think it can be E. dilutata.
There are three species of this genus that difficult to distinguish and sometimes one has to dissect out the genitalia to have the correct ID.
TFS, best wishes, Ivan

Hallo Fabian,

Heinz

Hello Fabian,

Yes, this species is from the geometridae family... You managed excellently the exposition in order to let us see all the brown/white taints... I'm happy that you photographied this moth because few did it... Usually the camouflage is perfect but here the moth should leave that place quick because a bird can easily find it...! Good job!

TFS,

Michel
