Great sharpness, the ideal point of view with the beautiful drops and their reflections and a heap of available details.
The depth has also created a perfect background soft and contrasting due to the appropriate illumination including the use of flash.

the colours are very nice and it's a good POV.
The small water-bubble is anice bonus. I'm still wondering why 800ISO fro macros especially with a flash.

Hi Sabine

Very nice in-your-face macro of this unnamed butterfly. How does the saying goes, “A rose by any name is still a rose”, so I presume that a butterfly with no name is still a butterfly. Thanks for your lovely New Years wishes and may it all return tenfold to you and Wishnu and all your other loved ones.

I like your composition and very interesting POV. The DOF is just amazing and it paid dividends with super details. I just wish I could figure out what the reflections are that can be seen in the drops of nectar. The colours are rich, the BG is wonderful, and the exposure was absolutely spot-on.

Hallo Sabine,
hier hast Du aber den Blue Morpho voll erwischt. Ich erkenne ihn an den roten Streifen an der Seite und der bräunlichen Färbung seiner Schuppen. Sehr gutes Supermakro - sehr gute Schärfe, Tiefenschärfe und sehr schöne Farben. Als I-Tüpfelchen hat er noch 2 Wassertropfen auf und unter dem Rüssel. Danke Dir für dieses sehr schöne Foto. Ich wünsche Dir und Stephan einen guten Rutsch ins Neue Jahr.

Excellent extreme closeup with very good color and use of flash to fill. Sharp and detailed, great DOF, comp, and POV..
I find the nectar droplets add very good interest as well. It looks almost like it has too much to drink...not a good thing when you have to drink & fly :}}

Wow, all the shot is a beautiful close up and has great details, but to get so much detail in such a tiny drop is amazing. Beautifully captured and also presented, wish you much more captures like this one for 2007 :)

The level of magnification here is most impressive and the fact that it remains sooo sharp just makes me more anctious for my new SLR and macro lens (but i stil have to wait at least until april :(( )
Anyway, your shot is wonderful, with an excellent management of the light, charming colors and a great DOF.

OMG! Sometimes pretty things become ugly at closeup! Heard of the phrase "good from far, far from good"?
lol... these butterflies become monsterous when up close yet nature is an amazing thing!
