Serin-dipity

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Serin male (Serinus serinus, family Fringillidae) taking a drink on a hot afternoon in Crete. I'd stopped the car to take a shot of some swallows gathering mud when this little fellow turned up - hence the title of this shot (Serendipity = the lucky tendency to find interesting or valuable things by chance).
This small finch can be found year round in the Mediterranean area, and also migrates to other areas of southern Europe in summer. It is often found around coniferous trees, and feeds on small seeds. It produces 2 to 3 broods from May to July.
Kind Regards
