[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
As I couldn't end my first calendar year with TN without posting a picture of a wild flower, I chose this shot of a wild anemone.

There were many growing along the roadside at the top of the famous Samaria Gorge, which is a national park in Crete.

The Crown Anemone (A. coronaria) varies in colour from pink to blue. It grows quite commonly on waste land or abandoned fields and is often planted in gardens.

Dioscurides prescribed the juice of the anemone root to be taken as nose-drops in order to cure headaches.

We don't have this flower growing wild in Sweden but it makes one look forward to spring!

Hello Ivan,
Anemone blossoms freshly opening for the sun are a beautiful ending of your first year here on TN! Well composed image with subtle naturalistic colours. Showing the stony soil hardly covered with vegetion yet, you give a pleasantly well reported impression of spring in an arid and windy place such as Crete.
Looking forward to spring, to the sun, to Anemone and her friends. All the best to you, Ivan, Happy New Year to you and your family!

Great flower. I have never seen that kind of Anemone. The photo is not perfectly sharp but is a very interesting object.

Hallo Ivan
Purple is my favourite colour and your photo "The Crown Anemone" deserves a smiley. This is a wonderful close-up with fine detail. I like the one yellow flower way back in the picture. There is a bit of a shine on the flowers, that attracts the eye. I like the violet anthers, and the way some of the flowers are opened to the sun while some of them are closed and it looks as if they are blown from behind by the wind. Thanks for sharing it was most enjoyable to look at.
