Stoat (Mustela erminea). Also known as Ermine or Short-tailed Weasel this mammal is distributed across most of the Northern Hemisphere. Although it may look cute in this picture, it is a vicious and accomplished predator. It will eat almost anything it can kill. In areas where there is regular snow during the winter months the coat turns white which is when it is known as Ermine. This fur has been historically prized by humans.
If you wish to learn more about this creature, there is an excellent page on Wikipedia
I spotted this one darting into some rocks while driving along a country lane in Crete. I pulled over and grabbed my camera and I was able to capture a few shots when it jumped out into the road. It didn't hang around and scurried off into the undergrowth. My wife and I were just pleased to have a clear view of such a beautiful creature.
Kind Regards

Hallo Vinny
Great close capture of this cute little animal in a nice pose. I like the big black eye and the cute little ears. Seems to be very cute and looks cuddly, but after reading your notes I don't feel like stroking its head. I'll rather stay in my own territory. The gravel used as your surface displays well on this photo. Lovely presentation. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards
Anna
Such good shots of those are very seldom. Congrats.
