Ophrys epirotica
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Another subgroup in the mammosa group, with morphologically similar species is that of O.epirotica, O.aesculapii and O.hebes (and the recently described O. zeusii and O. negadensis). Ophrys epirotica differs as it has late flowering time and small, entire (without side lobes) flowers. It is common in Epiros, where, it usually blossoms one month later than O.hebes. As for O.aesculapii, it grows only in south continental Greece and Peloponnisos. The stem is usually short and the flowers small, round, with yellow border. Flowering time: May-June.

Hello Anita and Mike,
Very interesting shot with this beautiful species. Colours, light and sharpness are good. I agree with ge-fleur, maybe the photo can be beter without the bottom flower (blured). I suppose you liked to show us the entire flower... Thanks for it, best regards,
Catherine
