Wounded caretta caretta on coast
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| A big sea turtle, caretta caretta gives birth on the coasts. It lives in all over the world in sub-tropic places (USA, Australia, S. Africa). In Greece it mostly lives in Ionian and S. Aegean sea and is in danger. It is very rare in N. Aegean, like this animal found yesterday seriously wounded near the coast. |

so sad, so very sad, although the picture is well captured. the wound was caused by a ship? I almost sure that the wound has human causes...
A very sad ending for a beautiful individual Theologos, you've captured its form, plates, scales and splendid colours quite naturally. It looks like a healthy specimen, except that terrible looking fatal wound on its head, probably caused by a sharp, axe-like instrument. A pity indeed...

how big was it?
i hope it survived...
nice clarity in this picture although the subject is very sad...

Hi Theologos,
A very pathetic view. Here also in the coastal area Olive Ridleys come to lay eggs. And a many get injured due to careless fishing. Hope someday we will know they are secured to co-exist with we careless humans. Thanks a lot for sharing.
