Lizard

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is enhard's wall lizard (Podarcis enhardii).
It's distributed in south balkans(Greece, Albania, Bulgaria). Its common on most greek islands where seems to have a connection with Eleonora's falcon (Falco eleonorae). It is believed that the lizard benefits from the remains of the falcon's prey and also from the parasites of the nestlings.
As you can see in the photo the tail seems to be different and rather small...Thats because of autotomy, which is a defense mechanism of most lizards. When a predator grabs the tail, the lizard cuts its own part and escapes. That can be done once in lifetime and the tail grows smaller than before
On the photo, I just cropped a little bit..
