| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
In lake Kerkini's northern shore. The lake was formed in 1932, when a dam was built on Strymon river. It is the wildlife-richest habitat in Greece and one of the ten water-reserves protected by Ramsar Treaty.
1) Little egrets (egretta garzetta). It lives in marshes, shallow fresh and coastal waters, usually breeding in trees and near water.
2) White pelicans (pelecanus onocrotalus). A colonial bird, living in fresh and brackish lakes, marshes and shallow coastal waters.
