The Mallard/Anas platyrhynchos-
an adult female with a brood of seven ducklings.

I observed him on a fallen trunke,
i been puzzled because while I approached little by little but enough near and without cover,
in order to I have better subject, she did not leave,
then I saw the seven hidden nestlings,
i remained in my place and I left the family to be removed,
until it feels safety, making captures from far.

It appears that the mallard was public repeated type when the reeds thicket
and other regions with sweet waters were extensive,
today however minimal pairs are repeated regularly.
Today basically it is wintry visitor

info from wikipedia:
Mallards form pairs only until the female lays eggs, at which time she is left by the male.
The clutch is 8–13 eggs, which are incubated for 27–28 days to hatching with 50–60 days to fledging.
The ducklings are precocial, and can swim and feed themselves on insects as soon as they hatch,
although they stay near the female for protection.

This scene was photographed in the delta of river Strimonas inside the lake Kerkini

thank you for your visit in my collection

have a nice day and good photographs!

Hi Nasos,
another lovely presentation of this happy family. The weeds give a good effect of real and wild nature presentation.
Nice reflection too.
