[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
the season where the nestlings grow up is continued

Great Cormorant/Phalacrocorax carbo
Greek name Kormoranos,in the local dialect karabataki,(it is Turkish word).

last year's capture from the lake Kerkini,
I have been reported for the forest that exists in the delta of river Strimonas in the lake Kerkini,
it entertains thousands nests of aquatic birds, mainly cormorants,
(the population at summertime exceeds the 20.000 individuals),

in the photograph we see nestlings in the period where they stand on branches of aquatic willow tree,
outside from their nests,
they do not fly yet,
in the first test flight, they separate their nest not being possible again to fly in this,
for this reason they are hesitantand,
nourished still by parents.

the picture that I present is idyllic,
it will exist in the future?
yes, if the human can manage the water, the river and the lake,
balancing his necessities with those of nature

thank you for your visit in my collection

have a nice day

Hi Nasos.
We have similar problems. The settlement of these birds is destroyed with coastal woods. However, shot is amazing. Scene is very natural, details are crisp sharp, colours are cold a bit and very nice. Exposure of the image and composition are spot on too. Well done. TFS and best wishes.
Alexei.

Hi MF and today my neighbour Nasos:)

Hello Nasos,
A somehow funny picture. I like the display of the different Cormorants, very artistically made by this special birds. I think this species seems to be quite resistent, compared to other birds.
Have a nice day

Hola Nasos,
creo que captaste bien el hábitat de esta especie.Destacaría también los colores y sus contrastes. Aquí es una especie cada vez más abundante en nuestro Rio.
Un abrazo: J. Ignasi.

Hello Nasos,
Excellent composition showing these young Cormorants posing nicely by their nests. Good focus and details and natural colours. Many people don't like them as they breed in such big colonies and destroy the trees but I love them!!
TFS and regards, Ulla

Hello Nasos !
Wow, you have five birds on one single picture ! And each of them is pin sharp, with excellent details. I specially like the one sitting on the highest branch, he looks so proud and majestic against the blue sky. The composition and POV are perfect, the colors are very natural. I really hope that human will do what needs to be done to protect these areas, so that you will be able to post pictures like that for a long time. Very well done !
Valérie.

Hi Nasos
Great capture of the cormorants...We have the prblem also of this bird fedding until they destroy a lake...Shows the danger of introducing a non-naitive species that are not controlled by natural predidation...TFS
Jim
