hello friends
after a small travel in the water biotope of lake Kerkini, I returned with certain good subjects.
I begin the presentation of this collection with a subject that complicated me a lot,
after a lot of days efforts of approach, I have in my hands his few captures:

The Black Stork/Ciconia nigra

this season where it is repeated he is innaccessible,
only when it goes down from the mountain, that has his nest, for food,
in the river, in the lake and in the marshes that are created in the region,
you have the occasion enjoyments his beauty and him photographings.

from wikipedia:

is a large wading bird in the stork family Ciconiidae.
It is a widespread, but rare, species that breeds in the warmer parts of Europe,
predominantly in central and eastern regions.
This is a large bird, nearly 1 m tall with a 1.8 m wingspan, weighing around 3 kilograms.
It is all black except for the white belly and axillaries, and its red bill and legs.
It walks slowly and steadily on the ground. Like all storks, it flies with its neck outstretched.
It breeds in large marshy wetlands with interspersed coniferous or broadlived woodlands,
but also inhabits hills and mountains with sufficient network of creeks.
It builds a stick nest high in trees. This is a shy and wary species, unlike the closely related White Stork.
The Black Stork, feeds on amphibians and insects.
It has a rasping call, but rarely indulges in mutual bill-clattering when adults meet at the nest.
The Black Stork is one of the species to which the Agreement on the Conservation
of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds (AEWA) applies.

This scene was photographed in the river Strimonas, little before the delta that it creates in the lake.

thank you for your visit in my collection

have a nice day and good photographs

Hello Nasos,
Very beautiful presentation of this Black Stork. Light and colours are very clear. Good sharp details. Maybe the composition is a bit too much centred. Excellent low POV and OOF BG.
Regards,
Peter

what a pretty black stork! :-) great capture with nice details and good eye-contact. the green-metallic on the neck shines
wonderfully in the light, but just as the others before me, i would prefer an off-centered composition too. well done & best wishes, thor.

Hi Nasos, what a spectacle this pic! A very nice ciconia but a fantastic pic,the sharpness, the colors and the backgrouns are super!! 2 points are not enough,my best compliments, have a nice Sunday,Luciano

Hi Nanos

Excellent shot of this black stork. The only negative is that the stork is too centred, the bird should be more to teh righ oof the frame. But apart from that its sharp, good composition and great light.

Hello Nasos,
Fantastic capture of the Black Stork in a fine pose by the waterside. Excellent exposure and the light is so wonderful bringing out the metallic colours of the plumage. A fine smooth background too. Personally I would have left more space in front of the bird and less behind but otherwise brilliant work!

Merhaba Nasos!
Bu ne kadar güzel bir "Kara leylek" fotosu. Tüylerindeki parklaklık, renkler ve detaylar harika görünüyor. Tebrikler.

Hi Nasos.
Fantastic picture. I am amazed a lot. Bokeh is terrific and reproduction of the main subject is so outstanding. Stunning details of the charming bird and bank of a lake. Colouration of the feathers is unbelievable and fine. Bravo. Perfect job. However, some people do not like centered composition. I am not from their numbers :)
Alexei.

Hi Nasos,
This picture is very interesting to me, because I took a picture of a black stork
near Kerkini lake in spring 2008 and the stork had as well a ring on the right foot! You can see my picture here at the address http://www.treknature.com/viewphotos.php?l=3&p=167610
On the picture you cannot see the ring, but I have other pictures with the ring visible. I am pretty sure, it is the same bird!

Hi Nasos,
a very beautiful shot of the stork. Well captured in the light. Very sharp and the pretty shiny feather is very exciting.
Well done and well presented with a good greyish background.

Hello Nasos
great shot of this black stork, superb sharpness, nice pose, wonderful natural colors
i like especially the great luminosity and the light reflection on the plumage
Have a good night
Jacqueline

The clarity and the lighting works for me , but the placement of the subject in the center is something which will not be preffered by purist.

Ciao Nasos, great capture of beautiful ciconia, great details and swplendid sharpness, very well done, ciao Silvio

Buen encuadre y un fondo muy bien tratado.

Hi Nasos!

I didn't know this species, and I'm glad that TN offers the possibility of presenting it. I'm also glad that you took the opportunity to capture this beautuful and majestic bird and to present it to us. The picture shows us the elegance of the bird and the superb colour tones of the feathers. I also like your notes very much.

Kind regards

Markus

Hello Nasos,
I see i have missed quite a few shot of yours while i was away.I chose this one to comment today.Excellent sharpness. The sheen on the bird's neck is striking and is perhaps the most attractive part of the scene. I would only think of slight change accord. to my personal taste...and that's the psoitioning of the subjct..i would prefer an off-centre position. But that's a personal opinion and doesnt reduce the beauty of your capture a single bit.

Thanks for sharing this beauty.

Cheers
Silpa

Hi Nasos,

Beautiful photo of a beautiful bird, excellent POV, sharpness and background. Superb shot, bravo. Yes, a bit more off-centered compo would have been better, but I like Your image this way, too.
This specie's rare in Hungary, but I know it's living on the Hungarian lowlands. For my greatest surprise I saw a specimen (from bus, so no photo) on the low montaneous area where I live, flying above this lake.

Tfs, regards, László
