The European Bee-eater/Merops apiaster
is a near passerine bird in the bee-eater family Meropidae.
This species, like other bee-eaters, is a richly-coloured, slender bird. It has brown and yellow upper parts, whilst the wings are green and the beak is black. It can reach a length of 27-29 cm, including the two elongated central tail feathers. Sexes are alike.
This is a bird which breeds in open country in warmer climates. Just as the name suggests, bee-eaters predominantly eat insects, especially bees, wasps
and hornets which are caught in the air by sorties from an open perch. Before eating its meal, a European Bee-eater removes the sting by repeatedly hitting the insect on a hard surface. It eats some 250 bees daily. The call is a pleasant distinctive trill.
the information was from wikipedia

Spicious, it is not approached easily motionless, in flight can plays with you, however because his speed the photographing is not easy.

It was photographed in the Delta of river Strimonas in the lake Kerkini.

Hi Nasos,

Very good picture, it is amazing to watch the serenity of the fund, with a perfect fade. At the same time, the bird is very relevant in the third right. You have done a really great composition, with very light colors quite natural and appropriate.

Congratulations. is a beautiful work!

Hello Nasos !
I love this picture ! The proud pose of the bird, the wide space all around the bird, the composition with just bird and one single branch, the discreet colors, the blurred and empty BG... It's really a wonderful photo, you are really talented with your camera. Very well done !
Valérie.

Hello Nasos.

Thank you for that picture of European Bee-eater.

Splendid composition with the bird on the left side, on his branch, possibly expecting to fly. The sharpness and the depth of field are very good, so that we can see many details from the bird, without to be disturbed by the background. The colours and the contrast are realistic. We have a good feeling from the bird.

See you soon for other pictures.

Philippe.

Hi Nasos
Fine capture of the colorful little bird...TFS
