Hi Thodoris,
You certainly have some strange and wonderful creatures in your village, I've never seen one of these before! It certainly looks like a bee but unusual colours. Nice shot, good detail and great colours.

Hi Thodoris,
in English this "Xylocopa violacea" is called "Carpenter Bee", I think. In Austria, we call it "Holzbiene",
very similar to the grandfathers in Lipinitsa.
Nice shot, well composed, good colours! It is always difficult to make the details on the dark wings and body well visible with that species. Maybe some postwork lighting up on that picture would bring the details out.
Thank you, best regards to Lipinitsa!

Hi Thodoris!
Nice macro of this big bee. I think it could be Violet Carpenter's Bee, I saw similiar ones on Crimean Penisula. It seems they like thistle. Nice details and good light.

Hello Thodoris,
A funny thing about Xylocopa is that they do not have sting! But anyway there are few species of Xylocopa in Europe and I wouldn't bet it's exactly X. violacea. Better to stay just with generic name :-)
By the way, Polish name of this bee is "zadrzechnia" - quite a tongue twister, isn't it :-)
Best greetings,
Michal
