Here we have a bunch of Burnets of Zygaena family. Difficult to identify every one of them because the differences are not so distinctive. Maybe the Five-Spot Burnets “Zygaena trifolii”,“Zygaena erythrus”,“Zygaena purpuralis” or the Six-Spotted Burnet “Zygaena. filipendulae”.
Sorry but I’m not so expert!

Hi Thodoris,

another good view of another impressing congregation of at least three different species!

Now here there seem to be:
- Zygaena trifolii, the Five-Spotted Burnet (both to the left),
- Zygaena filipendulae, the Six-Spotted Burnet (lower right)
- Zygaena ephialtes, the Variable Burnet (upper right).

Your place seems to be a paradise for burnets.
Thank you, and best regards,

Peter

P.S.: For an approximate identification of burnets it does not need an expert as long as there are such splendid sites available that are accessible for free:

Hello Thodoris!
Very interesting shot showing different species. I myself have problems trying to catch more than one on a single flower, let alone four guys at the same time. I always complain that the area I live in is poor in butterflies and other insects, but yesterday passing through a busy intersection I noticed a lot of comotion around thistles flowering on the side of the road. When I got out I could see numerous dragonflies and butterflies feeding there. They seem to really like thistles. It was 3p.m. and too much wind, so gotta go back there some morning. Regards,
Mark

Oportuna captura Thodoris por su composición, colorido y POV.
Tal vez la imagen sea algo soft, pero no desmerece la belleza de la misma.

Hi Thodoris,
Congratulations to your jackpot in Zygaeninae! Exciting to get that many different species in one shot! A very good picture that helped our friend Peter to identify them readily. Thanks a lot for this unique composition,
Goran

Hi
