European Free-tailed Bat (Tadarida teniotis) is confined in the Mediterranean zone, including most of the islands where it is locally abundant. It is the largest European bat, with a body length of up to 87mm. Its wrinkled face gives it the alternative name of Mastiff Bat. Its long (up to 57mm) fleshy tail is free of membrane for over one third of its total length. This species is found in buildings and even in towns. In Greece, is listed among the threatened species.
