A young snake (Zamenis longissimus). It lives in central and southern Europe, reaching 2 m. in length in Greece.
And an Eastern Montpelier snake (Malpolon insignitus). It lives in Trentino and Lampedusa island (Italy) and Balkan peninsula. It is the biggest snake in Europe, reaching 2,5m. in length, and mostly feeds on mice.

very nice shot, well composed with great detail and very rare subject! It is the first time i see a M.insignitus with so calm expression! I didn't know he could get one at all :-D
