Order: Odonata
Suborder: Anisoptera
Family: Libellulidae (?)
Genus: Sympetrum (?)
Species: Sympetrum Striolatum (?)
Gender: Female
Dragonflies (anisoptera) and damseflies (zygoptera) belong to the order Odonata, their basic difference among others is that dragonflies rest with their wings open while damseflies with their wings close together above the body...another difference is their eyes, the eyes on a damselfly are apart while in most dragonflies the eyes touch.
They are incredible little creatures...playful and friendly; when they get to know you they wont move even if you touch their wings by mistake with your lens :) i did this myself because i wanted a very close view of the head but i guess my camera is not the proper one for such job |
