Elaphe quatuorlineata yearling

Elaphe quatuorlineata is a big and strong balkan snake, sometimes upgrows to 2.50m. It is non venomous and harmless. Comparing other species, E.quatuorlineata is a gentle snake and very easy to handle.

In the photo you can see its juvenile colours, as if it grows it takes a completely different form of a grey-brown colour and four dark lines-stripes running all over its length, but no spots.

Really horrible. How did you manage to capture like this? was it in the open place ?.

Anyway , it is a very good wild life photo. Good color and good contrast.

Hello Ilias, splendid close up shot of this snake with wonderful details and composition. Thanks for sharing.
Greetings,

Great shot! Sharply focussed, and I like the flickering tongue. But I feel the pattern and colour of the background is competing with snake for attenction. So may it would be better to blur the bg much more. Anyways, impressive shot, thanks for sharing.

Hello Ilias,

What a good portret of the snake. Image is very sharop showing good details of the reptile. The colors are well renderen looking natural. I like the moment you have made the photo with the snake's using it's tongue.
