[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Blue-winged Grasshopper ( Oedipoda caerulescens ) is a grasshopper of intermediate size, ranging from 15 to 21mm for the male, and from 22 to 28mm for the female. The coloration of the body is very variable according to the place on which the insect grows: brown-reddish, grey, yellowish, or even entirely sinks or clear.
The former wings are generally crossed by two or three clear strips. But the most visible character, when the insect flies away, is the sharp colouring of the posterior wings, a superb turquoise blue underlined by a marginal black band.
In addition, the posterior femurs have a notch on their higher face. At rest, confusion is possible with the Oedipoda germanica and the Sphingonotus caerulans.

(Wikipedia)

Bonjour Catherine,
well discovered and captured! It is not easy to detect these grasshoppers - except when in flight.
Very nice close picture of that grasshopper with good focus and sharpness which is particularly
impressive concerning the legs, the eye and the antenna. You can see a part of the blue wings, too.
Best wishes, Peter

Hello Catherine,

You did a good cloe-up of this insect showing it sharp. As you have used the light well colors look natural and the match between insect;s colors and the ground can be easily seen.

Thank you for sharing,
Cristian

Hello Catherine,
An excellent macro of O. caerulescens taken from a fine lateral POV to show a glimpse of the blue hindwings. Technically this is superb and it is well seen against the BG.
We have this species in S. Sweden but it is rare and I have not succeeded in photographing it yet.
Well done and thanks for sharing this fine image,
Regards,
Ivan
