Hi Laurens,
yes, I like this one, too. That must be a "once-in-a-lifetime" encounter, this huge and majestic beetle. Those antennae, I still wonder what they are for (evolutionarily spoken). Surely a female C cerdo must be really impressed by it (so am I, but the beetle could'nt care less I suppose). The presentation of this dark animal on a diagonal twig and from above-lateral-behind is a good idea. The picture reminds me of my boyhood beetle collector past: at that time all my fervor was focused on this one and the Stag beetle, girls came later! Thanks for the wonderful picture!

Beautiful macro capture of a interesting bug! The branch gives nice contrast to this dark colored bug. The sharpness and POV are perfect. The DOF is very well maintained.

Al weer zo'n bijzonder exemplaar. Mooie foto in prachtige scherpte en details. Goede heldere kleuren. Het zou nog mooier geweest zijn wanneer de achtergrond helemaal zo blauw was geweest als links onder. Uitstekende compositie.
