On the same evening I photographed the Bittern, its cousin, the Little Bittern showed up. Though Little Bitterns are much smaller, they are more easily seen, often appearing at the edge of reed beds, looking for prey. They are summer visitors to southern and central Europe and are most common around the Danube delta in the Black Sea.
This male was digiscoped and this shot is not cropped.

my take on this bird i have rarely seen photogrphed here..i must have missed the rest is that it is away above all the herons, eagles, owls and stuff
a quiet and quality shot of a 'rare' bird
good eye shot and feather texture..in its natural habitat and ...a damn good catch

Very cool bird. I wish I could get a shot of one of these. The sharpness and details are great in this shot. I love the depth of field and the lighting in this shot. Very well done.
