Mating Robber Flies

Thanks Catherine and Thor for the ID.. I wasn't sure enough ;) I had a post of a robber fly but it was kinda different..

But one thing looks sure, that they are mating..

Took this shot today, with several others I'll share later on.. Used my 35-135 Nikkor in macro mode and an external flash to get the chance to stop down a bit. Still it wasn't enough, you can see the eyes are not sharp enough.
Anyway I'm kinda satisfied as I see it as an improvement from my previous macros. I only don't like the wings being flashed so ugly..

Please tell me what you think! TFV :)

Best regards,
Andor

Hello Andor,
For sure they are mating! Excellent shot, sharp, with beautiful light. It's a couple of Robber flies (Asilidae family). It is a big family: about 7,100 described species worldwide ! Could not help you more. Best regards,
Catherine

interesting capture with amazing details on these mating robberflies! :-) no idea about the real ID though.
well done & best wishes, thor.

great capture, TFS Ori
