Duna

Hi all!
Again just a quick visit but promise I will answer the critiques I receive! I miss TN very much and hope I'll be able to be here more soon.

This is river Danube (Duna in Hungarian) shot from the M9 bridge at Szekszárd. The low part of the forest belt surrounding the river is often flooded by the river, the side most trees are usually a bit in the water almost all year. I travel through the area very often and I thing the average water level is quite high this year.
This was a nice sunny day when we stopped here for a walk with my girlfriend (celebrating passing 100.000km in my car - see WS). So the sky is a bit pale and empty, I tried to compensate it with exposing the water as detailed as I can.

There were several natural and sadly some non natural objects too passing down under the bridge, but from a river going almost all the way through Europe (W-E direction, 2850km long, touching 10 countries) this is what you would expect. Before this point (where the photo was made) it goes through Linz, Wien, Bratislava and Budapest just to mention the bigger ones.

I chose Tolna for state, but to be accurate the Danube is the border of two states here, Tolna and Bács-Kiskun - so we were standing "on the line".

First time that after Lightroom I used CS3 instead of The Gimp to do the usual resize/sharpen stuff. I had too much of doing everything manually so made an action that stops only at the necessary points.

I hope you enjoyed the shot as much as I did the walk there.

Best regards,
Andor

Hi Andor!

It's a pleasure to see you back and I'm looking forward to seeing more postings from you.

The picture you present us mainly pleases to me for its simplicity. I like the fact that the sky and the large Danube fill almost the whole picture. Moreover, both are held in the same colour tones. The prevailing blue is nicely framed by the green trees. A simple, yet very pleasant subject and composition.

Kind regrads

Markus
