| Walking through the streets of Budapest I happened to look down at the pavement and came across this mantis just lying there on the hot surface. I found this unusual for a mantis to not be in the bushes so I decided to see if I could pick it up and relocate it to the nearest bush so it would not eventually get run over by a passing vehicle. As I attempted to gently grab the mantis it went into a very defensive posture which you now see in this image. Each time I put my fingers in front of it, the front limbs would streak out to attack my hand, its wings open in a warning to ward off predators and an intensity in its gaze to say stay away. I did eventually move the mantis to the bushes hopefully to find its next meal. |

Hi Jeff
Great capture...TFS
Jim
Maravilhosa fotografia, lindíssima.
Great capture. So clear and sharp
TFS.
This is an awesome shot; I've never seen a praying mantis do this before. Great capture!
bonjour jeff
une jolie scene du point de vue de l'attitude du sujet mais la patte avant est coupée et la prise de vue en plongée n'est pas la meilleur pour donner toute la force a cette image.il aurait fallut ce mettre au même niveau que la mante!

This is a great capture, Jeff.
The stance is priceless.
You did a fantastic job on the white lacy wings.
The veins are so sharp, and the translucence came through.
I really enjoyed this image.
TFS. : )
