Balaton nothern coastline

Yesterday I said there was no other interesting subject than the leaves, still I tried to bring out something of the coastline shots I made.

The actual shot I made yesterday is the top one!

We can see the western part of the nothern coastline here, from Mount Szent György all the way to Mount Badacsony. All are volcanic hills. Badacsony can seem strange if one knows it because the top left is covered in a cloud. You can see its real shape on the other two shots, I think it really has a characteristic shape, everybody would recognize it in Hungary.

I cropped this from a 35mm shot and had quite a job with levels to bring out some details of it. At last I made two settings, one for the water and one for the top parts and put them together. I really should buy a grad filter :)

I tried to make some frames with the Pentacon 500 and stitch them together but that was a useless one in these conditions.

Anyway this is what I could achieve, I think it shows the mood of the weather there.

The two other shots included were made on 16, 19 of July 2008 respectively, both at sunrise. I put them here to show some other faces of this view. Sorry for the boat but this is all I could find in my archives. As far as I remember these were probably made with the same lens only I did not have the polar filter back than but for the bottom shot I probably used a tripod as it has a 15sec exposure :)

I hope we'll have snow soon this year so I can include a snowed shot later on too.

ps. does anybody know why there is no "Lake" category? :) I have to use seascape instead...

A very beautiful and original presentation from you, my friend!
Yes...i know there is no "Lake" category...we tried to tell the admins to put one but i don't know why they didn't...
Anyway, this is a wonderful presentation of the great Balaton Lake. I've visited it once but i would very much like to go again one day.
I like the 3 settings very much here...but my personal favorite is the middle one.
The colors (in the two) are amazing and the ultra wide view (in all 3) is excellent!
You did good to exploit the symmetry here and create this wonderful collage.

Hi Andor!

I'm not particularly fond of that kind of compositions, but I must agree that the effect in your picture really is very pleasant. The fact that you put three times the same view together is a very good idea and the different atmospheres shown in each picture suit very well. Maybe the first one is a bit grey in comparison to the two other ones.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your kind words on my last posting!

Hi Andor,
A wonderful collage of this great view on the vulcanic hills. Its great to see the what time and weather can do to a photo. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be the middle one. The fisher adds a lot to the scenery.

I 've heard many nice things about Balaton Lake, and I am very glad to see this pictures. You did a good job posting 3 pictures, made at different intervals, but from the same position, and with the same horizont line.

Szia Andor!

Nem csak "tó" kategória nincs, "barlang" sem, így jópár képemet nem tudom feltölteni. :) Elég a humbugból, lényegre: megbocsátom a hajót. :) Imádom a Balatont, nagyon szívesen nézem minden helyzetben, Te pedig erre kitűnő lehetőséget adtál. A felső, szinte f/f kép (magas ISO miatt?) kicsit zajos lett, és a részletek érdekében talán a curve adjustment-et is túlzásba vitted, legalábbis a sötét hegytetők alatti világos sávok miatt így gondolom. Nem rossz kép, csak a másik 2 jobb. A középső egy naplementés, az alsó pedig az utáni - nincs igazán mit hozzájuk fűzni, úgy tökéletesek, ahogy vannak. Illetve, mégis. :) Talán a Napot nem kellett volna félbevágni, pontosabban le kellett volna vágni teljesen, értelemszerűen azon részeket a többi képről is. Remélem, érthetően fogalmazok, mert ma ittam valamit. :) A panoráma-formátumra szerkesztés viszont kifejezetten szerencsés, a 3 kép egymással párhuzamba állítása pedig telitalálat. Tényleg csak gratulálni tudok, az említett apró hibák ellenére is nagyon tetszik az egész project. Grat.

Úgy néz ki, hogy idén balatoni lesz a nyaralás, a déli parton - talán Veled is találkozhatom egyszer, mint nemrég Marcival. Kösz a remek fotókat, tisztelettel üdvözöl: Laci
