Hello,

As far as You know, there aren't active volcanos in Hungary. But a couple million years ago, in the plyocene era the area You see now was like a "fire-line".

I made the panorama from the Southern side of Lake Balaton, from Fonyód town. You can see not less than 4 non-active volcanos (from left to right): Badacsony (mountain top on 438 meters above sea level), Gulács (393 meters), Csobánc (376 meters) and Tóti-hegy (346 meters). They're in the center of the pic or a bit right, the other hills on the panorama are not volcanic. I know the exact names of the mountains are most probably uninteresting to non-Hungarian people, but who knows... maybe You get temper to visit this area personally. As You can see, the hills are not high at all, but they're very steep...

I dedicate this panorama to my great local Friend Andor (gondox), who's without doubt the best Hungarian photographer on TrekNature and a very kind person. You can find more and better landscapes from Lake Balaton in his gallery. He has the luck to live much closer to this beautiful lake, so I'm jealous... :)

Little tech talk: done with my son's R607. Dunno why - probably I didn't bring my cameras to that walk and had to lend my ex-cam back. Stitching with HP Image Zone, simple digital developing with Photoshop + framing. Also check out the large version - although I just see I wasn't careful enough and the sky remained a bit noisy.

Thanx for stopping by, cheers, László

Great stitching work in getting together this impressive panorama taken by your son's point and shoot! The volcanic peaks are clearly seen and the whole view certainly inspires one to visit your country! The weather was ideal to tkae this kind of shot.
Thanks and best regards,
Ivan

Nice panoramic view.Well done!Alin

Szia Laci!

Andor

Hello Laszlo,
very nice panoramic shot of this beatiful landscape. I like the inclusion of the lakeside in the foreground to create good depth to the picture. The view over the lake towards the volcanic mountains is very impressive, especially in the large version. Very well done.
Best wishes,
Helmut

Hello Laszlo

Hi Laszlo,

The stitching of the pictures is allowing me to see the details and colors of the lake and of the mountains. It is also leading my eyes toward the mountains which is giving depth to the composition. The nice blue sky is giving a light which is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Pierre
