Limosa limosa islandica

I suppose that this is Limosa lapponica, but if I am wrong please correct me. This shot was made through my hitchhiking trip in Iceland this summer. The region can be not exactly, do not know them so well...
Upd: As found form comments the real bird is: Limosa limosa islandica. Thank you! |

Hi Edgars,
this is a very nice photo with the bird standing on the pole with green background. As for the species, I'd rather say it's not Limosa lapponica, but its close relative - Limosa limosa, because of the bill colour and shape and barred underparts. According to Avibase the Latvian name is Melnā puskuitala or Melnais kluitēns :).
Thanks for sharing the picture,
Michał

Nice shot, congratulations, and from a rather close distance - your lens is not very long. I do not think it is limosa limosa either - I have one among my photos - it looks a bit different to me... (this is the direct link: http://www.treknature.com/viewphotos.php?l=3&p=103546). Consider as well Short-billed Dowitcher (Limnodromus griseus).

Hello Edgars,
This is a fine capture of the Icelandic Black-tailed Godwit (Limosa limosa islandica) a subspecies that has deeper and more extensive red colouring than the nominate race. A few sometimes come to Sweden during migration.
Exccelent POV taken with fine sharpness against an OOF natural Icelandic landscape BG.
TFS this fine image,
Regards,
Ivan

Hello Edgars,
Very fine bird picture. I'm not a bird specialist, but this picture in my eyes is very subtle and has also a very fine colouration. Well seen.
Best regards

Hello Edgards,
Very beautiful photo of this Black-tailed Godwit. Great natural colours and very sharp details. Excellent composition and OOF BG.
