Le cheval islandais est de petite taille, car ses membres sont courts
Son poil est épais et rude. Sa crinière est longue et hirsute.
Ses sabots si durs qu’il est souvent inutile de les ferrer.
Sa longévité est exceptionnelle (jusqu’à 40 ans). Et il n'atteint l’âge adulte qu'à 7 ans.
Pour préserver une race pure, la réglementation fait que : dès qu’un cheval islandais quitte le pays, il n’a plus le droit de revenir sur l’île.
Et, aucun autre cheval n’a le droit d’entrer dans le pays.

Hello Laurent,

I suppose they have been walking around the island since they were brought over by the Vikings more than 1000 years ago!
Good looking animals, well fed and they seem to enjoy the fresh green pastures...
