Hello Peter,
Technically this is up to your high macro standard showing most of the details of Helophilus pendulus with good sharpness, though you might have tried a lower shutterspeed and higher aperture to get an even better DOF (a small point).
However as on my screen it is a bit too dark I have tried the WS. I hope you don't mind!

Hi Peter.
If I would not know your style of shooting I would think that you used flash (considering dark BG). I am impressed with magnification level and such extreme details of the hoverfly and flower. DOF is superb and light condition s were really perfect for these exposure parameters. Best regards and TFS.

Dear Peter,
I assume - you chose the high speed - to catch all the flying pollen, set in motion by this Hoverfly.

I hope, my friend Ivan - if he reads this comment, will not be upset! - but I like YOUR ORIGINAL better than his workshop:
the glorious, sunny yellow constitutes a big part of the charm of your photo, and your dark background actually enhances this feature.
Your excellent focus shows the tiny claws at the end of the feet - and the sharp contrast draws the viewer's attention to the wings.
I also like the positioning of the centre of the flower in the bottom right corner, hereby creating a prop for the dark insect.
