Do you remember my post "Power of the Dolmen" well this is more about the limestone slabs that make the Burren such a strange and wonderful place. You can see the dolmen in the top right corner, the slant of the horizon is the lay of the land.

The Burren is a karst limestone region of approximately 300 sq km which lies in the north west corner of Co Clare, in Ireland. Like most of Ireland, the Burren was under a tropical ocean over 360 million years ago resulting in a layer of limestone.

Later tectonic movement raised a section of this ancient seabed into a great plateau which we now know as the Burren. The Ice Age ploughed through the region, widening the river valleys and depositing boulder clay.

This area has some of the finest archaeological megalithic tombs in Ireland. There are relics of human habitation dating back almost 6000 years and the most famous is the vortal tomb, or portal dolman, at Poulnabrone.

Olá Stephen,
A grande angular, a composição e a escolha pelo preto e branco ficaram perfeitas. Um certo ar de drama paira pela imagem de forma muito chamativa.
Parabéns,
Wagner.

you have been having fun again haven't you!

I just remeber visiting here and finding the standing stones much smaller than the postcards had ever suggested.

Excelletn shot and exposure etc and the POV is wonderful, but I think you might need to make the reason for the slant a little more obvious, maybe bold?

Emma

Hi Steven,

WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW, what a dramatic shot, this works excellently in b+w, even without the explanation it is obvious that the slant is intentional (it makes for a great composition together with the lines in the land and the lines in the sky it gives a bold "Z" shape). Dolmen strategically placed too, so the slanted lay of the land is not too subtle.

This one has heaps of visual impact, EXCELLENTLY done!

Regards,
Gabi

Hello Stephen, excellent BW perfect DOF Perfect details, excllent work great capture and compensation, TFS Kyle

I like this Stephen,
It's a strong image. I'm glad you mentioned the horizon, and I think it looks awesome.
A cracking shot. Thanks for posting.
Have a great week.

Hi Stephan,
I would say the conversion to B&W is perfect for this shot. Very dramatic composition with the dominant use of the rock in the foreground. Great tone range and detail in this shot.
Extremely well done!
Scott

Awesome and dramatic Stephen
Black and white really suites this photo.
Wonderful composition and textures.

Hi Stephen

I knew there would be a good reason for the horizon being on a lean! A dramatic shot. Perfect in B&W. Congratulations on a first class shot. :-)

Hi Steve,
Very creative work, I like it..You da.. :)
Dynamic composition on many levels..
Overall, my impression is one of foreboding or impending evil..or as through a glass, darkly..don't ask me why ;)
Also, I think the B&W has given the land a "scorched earth" look..hey, just my impressions..about two cents worth.
Very well done.

Wow, Steve, powerful and disorienting at the same time. Amazing details, of course. I think the B&W really emphasizes the texture. And after looking for a bit I get dizzy, and look to those powerpoles, but they don't help. As usual, a beauty.
