Pelican shot at Fota Wildlife Park in county Cork, Ireland. Fota website is here: html
Fota
Pelicans are native to wetlands areas of Eurasia and Africa. They are among the largest of flying birds: up to 10kg in weight and with a 3m wingspan. Each eats 1kg of fish a day which it catches in its pouched beak. Threats to survival include persecution by fishermen, loss of habitat and pesticide pollution.
PP: scanned from print, adjusted levels, saturation, and sharpened.
