The Skellig Experience

The Skellig Islands seen here 12km from the Ring of Kerry are spectacular pinnacles, which have magnetised viewers throughout all history – and beyond.

A wisp of cloud often adorning the peaks of these pinnacles creates a volcanic impression! But there is nothing volcanic about these Skelligs rocks; they are created of the same 350–million-year-old Devonian Sandstone that runs right through the backbone of Kerry - from the county’s south-western headlands to the shores of Killarney's lakes.

Hi Stephen,

Your landscapes never cease to amaze me, and this is no exception, stunning colours and d.o.f, wonderful POV, amazing light, just beautiful, all the best,

Cheers Rick :)

Hi Steve,
A breathtaking view of the Skelling Islands and ofcourse the Kerry coastline. I find the break of the waves on the rock mind blowingly beautiful The slow shutter created something really stunning down there. The typical Irish sea fog gave the islands a wonderful soft touch. The setting sun made the colors even more beautiful. Is this a stitch of two verticals? It seems to have a bit of a odd line on the left side.
TFS,
Niek

Hi Stephen!

Amazing view indeed, composed well among these wonderful rocks. I like the use of light and the softness here very much. Looking down in the bottom part makes me feel dizzy as it feels like seeing right under my feet :) very well set pov! TFS!

Best regards,
Andor

It is beautiful. Another mesmerizing landscape. Beautiful light, great depth of view.

Hi Stephen

You actually managed to post this about a day or two before I went to this area... I was staying just outside of Cahersaveen. We never actually made it here - but I did cycle this road all the way up to the top and then down the other side which was actually quite unnerving.... up was very hard work! We plan to return to the same place next year, so I should hopefully get to see it then when I have my camera with me - don't cycle with it.

I love the evening light in the picture. As always you have managed to capture it spot on and it is great to see what I missed. The composition is as always excellent and you should really consider this as a postcard for the area - there are very few I considered to purchase and there is plenty of room for some decent ones in the area!

TFS
Emma
