Hi Helen, Firstly - welcome to TN :-)

I like the effect you've tried to achieve here with this shot, I don't normally like too much manipulation from the norm but this works quite well. A shame some of the trees behind are still colour though!

Nice simple composition of this mighty tree's roots, the low viewpoint works well.

TFS (Thanks for sharing, you'll see that all over), Doug

hello helen, welcome to TN. I can see why you took this. The roots look like they go deep and strong. Looks to me like a giant's mighty hand grasping the earth. (but that is a little fanciful!). Playing with the colour seems to have worked as it lends a dramaitic quality.

Bev

Hi Helen,
Welcome to TN :D
Nice shot, I like the POV and the composition of this photograph. Well done!

beautiful.
I might have used less of the B&W effect thought. It looks natural in the back ground but not on the ground which could be a little more orange/brown to my taste.
Lovely capture of a lovely tree.

Well lI like the effect too, the roots are impressive. I would've liked to know what sort of tree it was though.
well done
Chris
