The tufted duck is a medium-sized diving duck, smaller than a mallard. It is black on the head, neck, breast and back and white on the sides. It has a small crest and a yellow eye. In flight it shows an obvious white stripe across the back of the wing. Feed predominantly on mussels, and to a lesser extent on crustaceans, insect larvae and bryozoans.

- thanks for that, it is a feeling I think I've had myself for a long time but didn't know quite how to express.

The composition for this shot is very good and the duck is seen in good light. I like the colour tone of the shot with the strong lime green / yellow which ties in with the ducks eye. The water itself looks like it has almost a motion blur, which I don't understand given the speed you shot this at, it almost looks like a painting in this respect.
