No, there are make-up sessions, there are feather stylists involved...it's a whole industry!!!

Birds spend an amazing amount of time cleaning and conditioning their plumage. And for good reason. If it is damaged they get wet, they can not fly anymore or they get cold and none of that is good.
Birds have a special oil gland at the base of their tail which they use to condition their feathers. In water birds this gland is especially well developed. There are also birds that grow special feathers that they destroy in order to produce a fine dust again to condition their feathers. All of these treatments are ment to make the feathers waterproof and keep them in tip-top shape.
Some other birds, apart from the oiling of the feathers with the oil from the gland use it for decorative purposes: they paint their beak and parts of their body with it. No one knows why.

Now you know the lengths a bird will go just so that we can get a good picture.

Ce prezentare frumoasa a "unei zile la coafor" :))
Intr-adevar, pasarile chiar isi petrec mult timp cu grija penajului lor iar tu ai surprins excelent acest aspect.
Detaliile sunt exceptionale si foarte clare iar culorile sunt suberbe si foarte bine saturate.
Imi place mult si ideea LP-ului, unde toate se vad mult mai bine.
