Hello
After two months at the expedition and next four months of broken internet I can upload my pictures at TN again :)
I want to start with the picture of ringed-tailed lemur (Lemur catta) that I have taken in Fota wildlife park in Ireland.
Ring-tailed lemurs belong to the family Lemuriidae, order Primates.
Their origin is the island of Madagascar, where they live in primary forests. They diet consists of fruits and leaves of the trees.
Ringed-tailed lemurs reach size up to 46 cm plus tail (that can be as 56 cm long) and weight up to 5,5 kg.
The conservation status of this species (after IUCN) is VU (vulnerable) that is the consequence of habitat destruction.
The picture was taken in Fota wildlife park. This park was established in 1983 and it is "home" of such animals as giraffes, zebras, cheetahs and many others. Among them there are ring-tailed lemurs. The interesting thing is that these lemurs are free (they don't live in cages) so you can see them from very short distance.
Observing these animals you can spent all day - they are very funny. In the picture you can see one of the lemurs that is taking sunbath in September sun.
I hope you enjoy the picture.
Thanks for attention.
Ania
P.S. Data about the lemurs were taken partly from wikipedia. |

Aha...now I see why you did not upload.
This is a very good return. A lazy day and lazy animal enjoying the sun.
Very sharp details.
Nice to see your photos again.
