[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I was going through some older photos and found this one made at the larger lake at Glendalough in the Wicklow mountains. I first wasn't that happy with this photo due to the lighting, but the rest of the landscape does give me this feeling of freedom.

Glendalough, or the Glen of two Lakes, is one of the most important sites of maonastic ruins in Ireland. It is also known as the city of the seven Churches. Fourteen centuries have passed since the death of its founder, St. Kevin, when the valley was part of Ireland's Golden Age.The two lakes, which gave the valley its name, came into existence thousands of years ago, after the Ice Age, when great deposits of earth and stone were strewn across the valley in the area where the Round Tower now exists. The mountain streams eventually formed a large lake. The Pollanass river spread alluvial deposits across the centre of the lake and created a divide to form the Upper and Lower Lakes. The Glenealo river flows in from the West into the Upper lake which is the larger and deepest of the two lakes. Before the arrival of St. Kevin this valley (glen) would have been desolate and remote. It must have been ideal for St Kevin as a retreat and area to be 'away from it all'. Kevin died in 617 A.D. at the age of 120 years and his name and life's work is forever entwine with the ruins and the Glendalough Valley

PP: 10% saturation, 20% contrast and 10% color tone. And framed it.

Hello Niek, well you siad it yourself about the exposure, the sky is a little OE and the foregound under. I also think it could do with some foreground interest. It's a very nice view and the composition is good. Well done.

I like this image. The composition has a nice feel to it. It has good contrast...just a little too much on both ends. It is the perennial problem in landscape photography. I love my ND graduated filter. This is such a common problem that I used your image to practice evening out the exposure in post processing. see workshop

Hi Niek, nice composition with good atmosphere and perspective. TFS.
Dean.

Hi Niek,
I think I agree with you what the lighting concerns. Beside that thisa must be a very calm place. I like your composition, with the end of this lake right in the middle. Good foreground. Well done.
Regards, Ruud

Hello Niek
C' une superbe prise de vue que ce paysage
BELLE composition et les couleurs sont belles il ya un bel effet de profondeur avec cette rivière qui coule au loin dans les montagne
Bravo et merci....JP

Excelent composition, but from my point of view, I find the framing a little bit distracting.... anyway the panorama is wonderful!! Best regards

Hi Niek,
Lovely landscape, but you impose a dark sinister mood here!
Great lines in your composition, excitement by the contrasting layers of land and sea/sky...
Good foreground interest, and I find the creek in the background valley an interesting addition!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Nice view, Niek, well seen and composed. Good colours and water. TFS.
Best wishes,
Elena
