Observed from any vantage-point on the nearby Ring of Kerry, the Skellig Islands are spectacular pinnacles that demand your attention.

Sculpted as if by the hand of God, Little Skellig, Great Skellig, are iconic visions of what islands are all about. Distinctively conical-shape, surrounded by blue swirling seas, these rock islands seem to symbolize world's end.

Puffin Island which you see in the foreground also holds important populations of several seabird species, such as Atlantic Puffins, Manx Shearwaters and European Storm-petrels, and was acquired as a nature reserve by the Irish Wildbird Conservancy (now BirdWatch Ireland) in the early 1980s.

Hello Stephen,
Lovely shot! I like the fresh green in FG and the darker one in the BG. Makes nice contrast. The misty sea looks great too.
VERY WELL DONE!

Hi Stephen,

Another beautiful scene. Well done on the capture and composition. Good control of the tones, it's nice to see images like this that are not "Blocked" in whites or shades. Nicely again.

Hi Steve,
A great shot, lovely shades of green and blue, perfect detail throughout, great exposure and I really like the scale provided by the animals dotted right across the foreground. Nice kind of mist hanging across the sea as well, excellent.
Cheers,
Adrian

Hi Stephen
Spectacular experience, spectacular view, and a sp...brilliant capture of the green, green grass of home. Well, not mine, but you know how the song goes. That blue ocean and the green pastures make this one of those, 'I wish I was there' photos. I suppose there are very few places in Ireland where you can photograph a landscape without having some livestock in the frame.
Well done with this posting. Technically it is a very good composition and even the guys with the spirit levels would find all is in order with the horizon. The gradients, the angles, and the positioning of the various pieces of landmass, ocean and sky makes for a rather interesting photo. The colours and details are stunning while the exposure was spot-on. TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hi Stephen!
Beautiful image. Impeccable composition, excellent exposure, beautiful colors, good use of the foreground. And the shapes of the two remote islands look almost surreal in the slight mist. Congratulations,
Mark

Hello Stephen,
Too late... everything has been said, I'll just add that the tension of the photo comes from this green, friendly, peaceful grass in the frontpart, and those not at all so friendly looking islands in the sea.(rough and spiky).
TFS

We drove through the Ring of Kerry Stephen - what a wonderful experience with the views and colours and land/seascapes.
This is a beautiful scene, looking like different layers on layers with the walls, and islands and mist in the BG. Well done,
Janice

Another stunning capture that really shows Ireland off to a tee. The standard green fields with sheep and cattle, the old decaying field boundrys and the edge of a cliff and another patch of land to the right at the strangest of angles. And then the spikes, so harsh and abstract, volcanic in appearance, that just add that something to the scene that oulls you back to realtity and the hardness of the environment. - excelletn picture and one that brings back fond memories...

TFS
