Celtic Myth and Legend

Another impression of Tory Island, nine miles north of the coast of Donegal. It is the most isolated, the most desolate, the most windswept of any of the Irish islands. It is an island drenched by the sea, drenched by the elements, and drenched with history and folklore.

For the purists the original is in WORKSHOP

Hi Stephan,
A superb seascape composition, Such an immense feeling of depth. I'll be very honest and tell you I love both versions. I have started gettting more and more into B&W, and the conversion here is excellent!
Scott

Hello Steve, Great to see a post again!
I think the B&W is very nice, but the "purest" in me still prefers the original..if I must choose ;)
I think this version accentuates the "rugged" look of this particular shot, adding texture and a "dimension" that is absent in the original..
Very well done.

wonderfull black and white photo landscape, i liked like this photo;-)

Hi Stephen,
Superb B&W landscape picture. Nice post-processing works: desaturation works nicely. Great picture.

Good morning Stephen,
Just time for a very quick visit.
Nice shot. Thanks for posting.
Have a great week.

Hi Sthepen,
I have never been to Tory Island, but I have worked with about 10 youngsters of the island back in 2000. They told me many stories of the island an of the artist that live there. They also told me about the rock formation where people throw stones on for, i believe good luck. Anyway, your photo shows me what they were talkinging about. I like the desaturated colors with just a hint of green. It all gives it an ominous feeling. A great POV and depth with the rock formation in the f/g as a great leadline.
TFS,
Niek

I like very much the view of this impressive coast landscape.
You postprocessed very nicely. You kept the minimum colour saturation in the photo to get contrasts up. I had try to put it in real B&W and sepia and looks great too but more moody.
Thanks for this great remote and brave view.
PD: This is a bit what I tryed to do in my "the death of the rivers" post but left much more colour that you. Regards.

Hello stephen, what a really wonderful shopt, Excllent POV BG DOF Black and white is something different looks great Nice work, TFS Kyle

Hi Stephen!
This is what I call grim landscape :-) Excellent mood here, very good place to hear myths and legends. Brilliant POV and dark colours. I like everything here!

Hello Stephen,
This looks preety amazing and has great impact. Like the PP work a lot. The POV and composition are great, maybe only whole seems to be a little unsharp.
I like it a lot!
VERY WELL DONE!

Welcome back. This is another wondeful Signal-Womb photo. It's got all the earmarks of a classic -- engaging subject of rugged nature, a wide angle, exquisite compostion, and perfect exposure. But I really like the twist of a smidge of color. I think it's time for you to publish a book of Ireland photos to take this to a wider audience.
Mike
P.S. Thanks for posting the original, too. I like the color version just as much.

Golly, here's another one! I like both versions. Interesting touch of green in foreground. I tried a white border instead of black and it was interesting. It seems to add to the drama and impact a little.

I want to go on a location photo shoot with you!!! I need a mentor and you'd do just fine. Why don't you live closer????? : ) Oh well, I'll just have to admire you from afar! : /

Thanks for the inspiration

Evelynn : )
