[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This relatively rare insect cought my attention when hiking above Lake Garda near Limone. They were plenty of them in the air, but only in one particular location. Seemed like a mating place. A few of the animals were on the ground and that's how I could take the photograph. I later identified it, via web search, to be a libelloides coccajus, also known as ascalaphus libelluloides. The German name is "Libellen-Schmetterlingshaft", in Italian it's an "ascalafo", if I am not mistaken. The photograph does not pretend to be anything perfect; it's the animal that I want to present.
