Class: Insecta

Order: Hemiptera

Superfamily: Pentatomoidea

Family: Cydnidae

Tritomegas bicolor-Pied Shieldbug

A distinctively marked black and white shieldbug which is unmistakeable as an adult. Like other members of this family, it is a ground dwelling species, but may be found feeding on the aerial parts of white dead-nettle and black horehound, the main hostplants.
Widespread in southern Britain in hedgerow and woodland edge habitats, becoming rarer northwards and absent from Scotland and Ireland.
There may be two overlapping generations each summer and females exhibit brood care of the eggs. While later larval stages are characterstic, early instar nymphs lack the pale patch on the pronotum and may be confused with those of Eysarcoris venustissimus.
Adult: All year
Length 5.5-7.5 mm

TFS and regards, Ulla

Hi Luciano...very good, excellent colours and definition... focus is first class... best regards h

Bonsoir Luciano,
Family: Cydnidae. Voir photos et infos here.
Amicalement,
Catherine

Hello Luciano
Wonderful close-up shot of a Pied Shieldbug. TFS.

Bahadır

I have to ask...were these "seeds" here by nature or for an idea of perspective...because they do many things....they add a sense of realism in both natural ways and in size or proportions. and of course we add in the special Luciano touch and voila! We have a super image with all of the knowledge needed should we need or care to use it! Very well done.
Bob

Dear Luciano,
Very sharp macro image of mini-cockroach like insect perse shield over thorax, though not . The antennae are very distinct with 3 segments each. The seeds are very well secured on the leaf or they are something different? TFS.

Bonito encuadre y posadero.
