This isn't one of my best pics, but is the only and the first of this specie in my gallery,i hope you will like it!

Class: Insecta

Order: Lepidoptera

Family: Nymphalidae

Subfamily: Limenitidinae

Genus: Limenitis

Species: L. camilla

The (Eurasian) White Admiral (see also Limenitis arthemis), Limenitis camilla, is a butterfly of the Nymphalidae family. They are found in woodland throughout southern Britain and much of Europe and Asia, extending as far east as Japan.

Adult white admirals have black wings with white bands. The contrasting colours help to break up the outline of the wing, camouflaging it from predators. They have a wing span of approximately 60-65 mm and have a distinctive, elegant flight consisting of short periods of wing beats, followed by long glides.

The white admiral feeds on bramble blossom and honeydew and the female will lay its eggs singly on wisps of honeysuckle growing in dense woodland. The caterpillars are green with red-brown hairs and are camouflaged on a leaf, by a mixture of their own dropping and silk. As autumn approaches it will form a tent-like structure made of leaf tissue known as a hibernaculum which it then secures to the stem with silk before hibernating. The caterpillar will then awaken the following spring and after a brief spell of feeding will moult, revealing a spiny green skin. It will then pupate during the summer, forming a green and gold chrysalis. After approximately two weeks the adult will emerge.

Roberto

Hi Luciano,
a pretty nice picture of this beautiful White Admiral.
Maybe it's not your best but I think it's good enought, only nit
it the bright part under and behind the butterfly, otherwise
it a decent picture with good sharpness and fine details. It was nor easy with this light but you managed the exposer well.

Hi Luciano. Its always nice to get somthing for the first time. You were lucky to get it for the first time. We can see the wing markings with good detail and bright colours. You did well with the bright light. TFS.
Nick..

have a nice weekend.

Ciao Luciano amico!

Is good to be able to to see your pictures again!

Beatiful work, with this type of light against, always it is difficult to achieve this type of results.

In this case the set is excellent! I love the ligth in the edge of wins!

Good work!

Congratulations

Jesús

Ciao Luciano,

A macro capture of this lovely butterfly with superb details! There is bit softness on some parts ofthe butterfly but overall, it works fine for the whole picture.

I like the great contrast between the colors of the butterfly and the blurry green BG. The sharpness is great and the POV is superb.

best regards,
Paras

very excellent close up. The tight framing allowas the insect to be seen in great details.
Nice light exploitation.

do you find yourself wishing summer and fall would have stayed a bit longer...well fall is technically much longer

Ciao Luciano,

Bon dimanche !
Amicalement
Anne
